I woke up this morning a discovered my second swallowtail had eclosed. When I first saw her she had obviously just eclosed, her wings were still crinkly. Unfortunately my batteries were not working, so I didn't catch it. If you look close, the chrysalis is just to the right.
I got to watch her pump her body fluid into her wings. It was so cool. I could have watched all day. However, I had to go to work, so off I went.
This evening I came home and Ms. Swallowtail posed and posed and posed for me. She must have heard me complaining about that ungrateful male (?) that wouldn't hang around yesterday long enough for me to take his picture. (This isn't bias....the butterfly people tell me the adult boys won't hang around, they're off like a shot!) :)
Yesterday when I was trying to chase down my first one, I found this little jewel.
